This lesson follows the lesson of poem reading and help the students to enhance the understanding of Chinese love poem. I choose another piece of poem written by E. Browning. The kids need to read them and make a comparison. The website www.shmoop.com is a useful one for them to find more information and help them break down the poems to analyse it. The students are instructed to focus on the different writing styles and emotion expressions to find different features. I think it not a bad chance for the students to appreciate the poems by making a comparison.

Feb 14th is the Valentine's day. This is a lesson right after the kids learnt the Chinese poem 鹊桥仙(Que QiaoXian/ The Immortals on the Magpie Bridge),which is a famous romantic poem in China. Then I chose 2 pieces of love poems, and , for the kids to read. My expectation is to help them develop their appreciation of poems and make a comparison between Chinese and English poems. Shmoop is a good website. In the limited time, we focused on the different writing styles and different ways to express emotions to do a exploration in the poems. It is challenging. They also need to present their report. The kids brought us surprise.
