Chinese Culture Day

TCLP alumna Tan Lihua received a Critical Language Project grant to hold Chinese Culture Stations at three high schools in Rock Hill, South Carolina. These Chinese Culture Stations were a Mid-autumn Festival Celebration, a calligraphy demonstration, a traditional clothes show, and an International Festival. Students also had the opportunity to learn about other aspects of traditional Chinese culture, such as games, food, classic novels, and tea culture, as well as to practice Chinese language skills.These events allowed current Mandarin students to showcase their knowledge and inspired other students in the district to study Mandarin. More than 80 students participated in these events and enrollment in the Chinese program increased 40%.
