Adbelrahman Dawoud (Baltimore International Academy, 2018-2019) and Henriette Sindjui (Baltimore International Academy, 2018-2019) received a CLP grant for an Arabic Week Celebration which will include activities for students in the Arabic immersion program and students and parents in the Arabic Language Club. Activities will include a guest speaker, exhibits of students’ work, music, and performances. Before the celebration, students and teachers will be working in the language club to learn songs, dances, and other performances. The long-term objectives are to insure the sustainability of the Arabic program at school by advertising it and encouraging more students to enroll in the Arabic immersion program next year.

What students should be able to do as an outcome of the lesson? • Students will learn months of the year in the target language put them in order and assign them to the correct season. • Say their birthdates (day- month – year) and the season later. • Say the names of the four seasons in Arabic • Assign the months of each season. • Describe the weather in each season using adjectives such as (hot=حار, cold=بارد, warm= دافئ, nice لطيف , beautiful جميل) • Talk about the temperatures ( high – low) حراره مرتفعه – حراره منخفضه • Compare the seasons in USA vs the Arab World countries. • Answer questions about what's their favorite season in Arabic & why?

After explaining this grammatical point, students were asked to participate in pair work and make as many sentences as they can orally. After they became confident about the conjugation of the verbs in the present and different forms with different subjects, They had a table to write the verb in its correct position and to write the other forms as well.
