This curriculum for Chinese II outlines the topics, objectives, goals, general syllabus, grading policy, and textbook used for a semester-long class.  Units are broken into 6 week sections, and they cover various topics ranging from grammar, comparative statements, weather and transportation, ordinal numbers, studying, school, and shopping.

This curriculum for Chinese I outlines the topics, objectives, goals, general syllabus, grading policy, and textbook used for a yearlong Chinese I class.  Goals are complemented with expected student outputs by the end of course, and they are measured by the ACTFL guidelines in the four language skills.  Also included are topics covered such as greetings, shopping, weather, places of interest in China and Taiwan, school life, and family.

Students enrolled in this introductory course will explore the Chinese language and culture in instructional activities that reduce anxiety and generate enthusiasm through a friendly, visual approach. Students speak the language from the first lesson in basic thematic units that promote effective communication. This exploratory course also offers students a taste of the art, music, and literature of China.

This course is a continuation of Chinese 1.  More emphasis in the second year is placed on reading and writing.  Students acquire approximately 200 more characters this year bringing the total they know to more than 500.
