Paula Lucas
Bio
Paula Lucas is originally from Huntington, West Virginia. She moved to New Jersey in 1990 and received her bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Education at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. She received her master’s degree in Education and Content, Instruction and Assessment at Stockton University in Pomona, New Jersey. She is currently a Spanish Teacher at Wildwood High School, a position she has held since 1997. She is also a Career and Higher Education Counselor for the 21st Century Grant and worked as the Department Chairperson for the History, World Language, and ESL Department from 2008 to 2016. Additionally, she is the proctor for the Renaissance program at Wildwood High School. Paula Lucas received the distinguished Teacher of the Year Award for 2009-2010 and 2019-2020. She became a teacher to empower culturally and economically diverse students to achieve their best and to become active and productive citizens locally, nationally, and globally. She has been teaching for over 25 years. Outside of the classroom, she loves the outdoors, yoga, and bike-riding. She has two grown sons, Pete and Ross, and is engaged to Jeff. For the 2023-2024 academic year, Ms. Lucas was the mentor teacher to Li Lin from Xi’an, China.
