Lindsay Unsworth

Bio
Lindsay Wilde Unsworth is originally from the state of Idaho but has lived in many states over her lifetime. She earned a bachelor's degree in Education with minors in Spanish, French, ESL, and Bilingual Education. She later earned a master’s degree in Spanish Literature from the University of Loyola at Chicago, with an emphasis in Women's Studies. Lindsay feels very fortunate to work at a school she participated in founding eight years ago, the Advanced Learning Academy (ALA) in San Antonio, Texas. The school focuses on the principals of design, student voice and choice, project-based learning, and community outreach. At ALA she teaches Spanish 2, Spanish 3, AP Spanish 5, and Spanish 6. The school is relatively small, with only two foreign language teachers, so she is excited to welcome the TCLP exchange teacher to enrich the student’s experience. Lindsay is an advocate for restorative practices and social-emotional learning and has received training in Restorative Justice and RULER (Yale-based SEL program). She has also received training in the Seven Steps for a Language-Rich Foreign Language classroom. Lindsay has used these trainings to support her colleagues by delivering trainings and classroom materials at the local, district, and state levels. She has been teaching for 18 years in schools across the country and online, at all levels, from elementary to college. Lindsay is married to an Army chaplain, has the coolest 13-year-old daughter in the world, and 2 cats rescued from the gutter of ALA. She loves traveling, and has visited Canada, South Korea, Spain, Mexico, England, Scotland, and Chile. This summer she completed the pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela with her daughter. Mrs. Unsworth will be the mentor teacher to Larbi Hachard from Oujda, Morocco.
