Laila Taik

Bio
Laila Taik is from Berrechid, Morocco and received a bachelor's degree in English literature from Chouaib Doukali University in El Jadida and participated in a teaching training at the Regional Pedagogical Center in El Jadida. She has been an English teacher since 2004 in various public and private primary, preparatory and high schools. In addition, she was appointed as a Provincial Coordinator of English Communication for her directorate at Institut d'Épanouissement. She is a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert and ICT trainer, and a founder of a global cultural exchange pen pals program. Outside of teaching, she enjoys outdoor activities, reading and graphic design. During her year in United States, she looks forward to experiencing American culture and being an ambassador for Moroccan culture, exploring new places, attending national games/celebrations, establishing a cultural exchange club, and volunteering. Her primary objective for participating in the Teachers of Critical Languages Program is to help students enjoy learning Arabic in an engaging communicative way and to learn more about engaging American teaching strategies and methodologies to share with others upon her return to Morocco. Ms. Taik will be hosted by Brooklyn Emerging Leaders Academy Charter School in Brooklyn, NY.
