Stephanie Townsend is originally from Chicago, IL. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ms. Townsend has always wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps as an influential educator. She taught grades 3-5 in the Chicago Public Schools district for 8 years and is currently the Curriculum and Instruction Coach at Edward E. Sadlowski Elementary School in Chicago’s Southeast Side. In this capacity, Ms. Townsend's roles include new teacher mentor, school wide assessment coordinator, school event planner, and grant writer. She is also a member of the Instructional Leadership Team at Sadlowski Elementary. This team focuses on creating, implementing, and monitoring the school’s self improvement plan. In addition, she is a lead member of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Team and the interim assessment team at Sadlowski Elementary. Ms. Townsend is ecstatic to participate in this program and is looking forward to the new learning opportunities it will provide. She will be the mentor teacher to Wu Jiaman from Jieyang, China.
