Omar Shalash

Bio
Omar Shalash was born and raised in Lexington, KY. He is Palestinian-American. Mr. Shalash received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky in 2012, majoring in history and political science. He earned a master’s degree in education from Georgetown College in 2015 and finished a second master's degree in administration leadership, also from Georgetown College, in April 2020. Mr. Shalash has taught all grade levels at Frederick Douglass High School. The classes he has taught include AP Psychology, AP World History, AP Human Geography, Advanced Citizenship, and Freshman Seminar. This coming school year, Mr. Shalash will teach AP World History, U.S. History, and General World History.
Additionally, Mr. Shalash is currently the head coach for boys soccer. He decided to pursue education as his profession because he loves to inspire people to become the best version of themselves. Mr. Shalash accomplishes this through both teaching and coaching. He also strives to provide opportunities for his students, as he was fortunate to receive such opportunities when he was younger. The 2020 school year will mark the 6th year of his educational career. Mr. Shalash will be the mentor teacher to Yasser Beshay from Asyut, Egypt.
