Aida Roman

Bio
Aida Roman is the technology teacher for grades K-8th at Moos Elementary School in Chicago, IL. Ms. Roman has taught at Moos Elementary School for the entirety of her 26-year career. She has taught grades ranging from kindergarten to 5th grades to both bilingual and monolingual students. In her 26 years of experience, Ms. Roman has participated in both the after-school and summer school programs. Ms. Roman received her bachelor’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University in 1992 and her teaching journey began. She returned to further her studies in education, and, in 2001, she received a master’s degree in elementary education. In the summer of 2009, she traveled to Africa when she was awarded a Funds for Teachers Grant from the Chicago Foundation for Education to collect artifacts and develop a unit on African culture. In 2010, she received a Teacher Workshop Grant from the Museum of Science and Industry to develop inquiry-based science units and investigations to enhance science content knowledge for her students. Ms. Roman was a volunteer for Girls on the Run, a program for 3th to 5th grade girls to promote awareness for health and self-esteem. Above all, she believes that learning should be lifelong, fun, and accessible to all. She was the mentor teacher to Zhang Mengmeng from Weihai, China (2019-2020).
