Christina Vela

Bio
Christina Vela is originally from McAllen, Texas. She received her bachelor's degree in communication-journalism in 2004 and her master's degree in communication in 2011 from the University of Texas-Pan American. She currently serves as the dual enrollment communication instructor as well as the assistant theatre director at PSJA Memorial Early College High School where she has taught for 13 years. Along with earning both high school and college credit in her communication class, her students are taught the value of intercultural communication and celebrating diversity. She also teaches two college courses, Introduction to Public Relations and Introduction to Mass Communication, at the PSJA Collegiate Academy. In addition to her duties as a teacher, Mrs. Vela serves as a Collaborative Learning Facilitator (CFL) for her campus. Mrs. Vela is also an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where she teaches Public Speaking and Introduction to Communication. She was the mentor teacher to Nermeen Aboughoneim from Alexandria, Egypt (2019-2020).
