Peter Strand

Bio
Peter Strand is originally from El Cerrito, California. He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Occidental College. He also earned his master’s degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, where he began his teaching career in the early 1990s. Today, he is an active member of the Yellowstone Writing Project and passionate about Holocaust education in American schools. His driving force as an educator relates to developing global citizens--the kind who are compassionate, critically literate, and politically engaged. In 2007, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History named Mr. Strand the Montana History Teacher of the Year. He was the mentor teacher to Mahmoud Dahroug from Port Said, Egypt (2017-2018), Sayed Keliey from Qus, Egypt (2018-2019), and Mouloud Mahi from Oujda, Morocco (2019-2020).
