Marianne Friend

Bio
Marianne Friend is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. She received her bachelor’s degree in German and Spanish and a K-12 teaching certificate from Cleveland State University. She earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Ashland University. In 2001, she was honored with the 'Excellence in Teaching' award. She teaches German and Spanish and has been teaching in this district since 1993. She also serves as the World Language Department Co-chair. She became a language teacher because she wanted to help students become open to and appreciate other cultures, as well as to help them experience the joy that comes from being able to communicate in a new language. Ms. Friend was National Junior Honor Society and German Club Adviser and has served on many district committees. Ms. Friend was the mentor teacher for Ezzat Hassan from Mit Ghamr, Egypt.
