Maria Cristina Heath

Bio
Maria Cristina Heath is originally from Mexico City, Mexico. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the Instituto Anglo Español in Mexico. She then went on to attain her TEFL teacher certification from CEMARC in Mexico. She has been a Spanish teacher at Swain High School since 1997, and has been teaching for 20 years. Ms. Heath has also taught in New York, Mexico City. She is a member of the Teacher of the Year committee, the School Improvement Plan Committee and the Academic Awards Committee, as well as being an ESL mentor. She has also traveled throughout the United States and abroad. Her awards include Teacher of Swain County Schools, NC; Teacher of the Year in Tarboro, NC; Teacher of the Year with the Visiting International Faculty Program; Outstanding Young Educator of the Year from NC Jaycees; Teacher of the Year in Mariam Boyd, NC; Second Place Teacher of Warren County Schools, NC; and Teacher of the Year in Mexico City, Mexico. She is married and lives with her husband and their dog, Peddee. In her free time, Ms. Heath loves to read, cook, walk, hike, listen to Spanish music, dance, go to the movies and have reunions with family and friends.
