Manal El Gammal
Bio
Manal El Gammal is from Sharkia and holds a Bachelor of Arts and Education degree from Zagazige University. Ms. Manal currently teaches English at El Zahra Secondary School for Girls, and she has also taught at the American University in Cairo. She also works for the Egyptian-German Academy as a part-time instructor. Ms. Manal’s achievements include scholarships to the University of Strathclyde and the University of California, attending a seminar in Barcelona, Spain, and participation in several civic engagement workshops in Egypt. Ms. Manal’s hobbies include reading and knitting. Her goals for participating in the Teachers of Critical Languages Program were to form a connection with her students as an Arabic teacher in the U.S., and to bring back knowledge of American society and culture to her Egyptian students. She sought to become a reliable resource for American and Egyptian students about knowledge of both countries and their languages.
