Alumni Focus on Project Based Learning and Global Competencies at 6th Annual TCLP Alumni Virtual Training Conference
The Sixth Annual TCLP Alumni Virtual Training Conference took place on December 12 and 13, 2018.

The alumni conference builds on the TCLP experience by reinforcing the importance of program goals and mission. This year’s focus was on global competencies and project-based learning.

On the first day of the conference, Jennifer Manise, Executive Director of the Longview Foundation and a teacher trainer on global competencies, gave a presentation on global competence and project-based learning. Ms. Manise has worked with TCLP teachers during several previous Spring Leadership Workshops on similar topics, but this presentation focused specifically on themes teachers could use abroad. The presentation also took into account feedback from the Alumni survey and on comments from recent alumni. Her presentation was followed by a question and answer session during which attendees had the opportunity to ask her specific questions.

Day two of the conference focused on how alumni of the program are already using project based learning and global themes in their classrooms. TCLP Staff invited four alumni, two from Egypt and two from China, to share their experiences with their colleagues. Howida Hassan (2017-2018), Adel Ghattas (2017-2018), Chen Jinyun (2013-2014) and Jai Lili (2015-2016) all accepted the invitation to present at the conference. The four presentations were all well-received by attendees who asked many questions and seemed to find the information they shared valuable. Afterwards, attendees had the opportunity to ask further questions and share ideas at a virtual roundtable.
