During the annual workshop, the 2023-2024 exchange teacher cohort reunited to share their success stories and challenges, as well as learn new tools for classroom management, scaffolding, and cross-cultural communication. Mentor teachers similarly had the opportunity to share their experiences with each other and together pairs brainstormed ways to grow their language programs through Critical Language Projects and exchange teachers' capstone projects. In addition to intensive sessions, the group had the opportunity to explore Philadelphia.
On October 20, the exchange teachers attended a special session led by guest presenter Joan Kang Shin, Professor of Education at George Mason University, on classroom management. Exchange teachers and mentor teachers also attended a session led by Deborah Hefferon on exchanging cross cultural experiences and strategies for cross-cultural communication. In addition to the sessions, the group also took part in a cultural tour around the Old City section of Philadelphia!
