Heidi Draheim-Shadbeh
Bio
Heidi Draheim-Shadbeh is originally from Appleton, Wisconsin. She received her bachelor’s degrees in both Elementary Education and German from Luther College in Decorah, IA. She is currently teaching English to both German and Mandarin track students at the German International School in Portland, a position she has held since 2004. She is also a literacy specialist for the school, has been the school's interim IB coordinator, mentors new teachers, and has taught numerous after-school clubs like baking, dancing, and yearbook. Ms. Draheim-Shadbeh spends her summers teaching and mentoring at Waldsee, the German language village of Concordia Language Villages. She became a teacher because she loves working with children, helping them to learn and grow. She loves teaching because every day brings new and fun challenges, and she's never bored. She has now been teaching for 22 years. Ms. Draheim-Shadbeh will be the mentor teacher to Peng Yun from Taoyuan City, Taiwan.
