Hao Tzu-Ya

Bio
Hao Tzu-Ya is from Keelung City, Taiwan and received her bachelor’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language with a minor in Applied English from Ming Chuan University. She has been a substitute teacher at Taipei Municipal Dunhua Junior High School since 2023, and before that she was an English teacher at Taipei Wego Private Senior High School from 2018 to 2023. Her students have a track record of success, always ranking top three not only in monthly exam scores, but also in extracurricular activities and competitions. Outside of teaching, she enjoys hiking and baking. During her year in the United States, she is looking forward to experiencing local lifestyles of her host community, taking trips to national parks, and exchanging international understandings while enjoying her host state. Her primary objective for participating in the program is to increase students' motivation to learn Mandarin. Moreover, she hopes to observe other teachers' classes to better understand American pedagogy and exchange educational perspectives. Ms. Hao will be hosted by Tommy’s Road Elementary School in Goldsboro, NC.
