Amisha Patel
Bio
Amisha Patel is originally from Bowling Green, Kentucky. She received her BA in Spanish/Psychology from Transylvania University and her MA in Hispanic Studies from the University of Kentucky as well as her MA in Teaching from Eastern Kentucky University. She is currently World Languages Department Chair and Spanish Instructor at Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington, KY, a position she has held since the opening of the new academy model high school in 2017. She is also a District Proficiency Lead for World Languages and a New Teacher Mentor and has also coached high school girls JV soccer team. She became a teacher to make a difference by sharing her love of languages with students to increase global competency, while providing perspectives of other cultures so students learn skills such as compassion and empathy while also encouraging them to study or travel abroad. She has now been teaching for 10 years. Ms. Patel was the mentor teacher to Mohamed Salem Tiguit from Zagora, Morocco.
