Tishana Nelson

Bio
Tishana Nelson is originally from Jamaica. She received her bachelor's degree in English and American literature with a minor in childhood education, then proceeded to get her master's degree in childhood education from New York University. She continued her studies acquiring multiple advanced certificates in special education, school administration, and TESOL. Ms. Nelson is currently the English as a New Language teacher and ELL Coordinator at A.C.E. Academy for Scholars, P.S. 290. She has held this position since 2016 and has been a founding member of the staff since school inception in 2010. She has held the positions of professional development facilitator, mentor teacher for new teachers to the DOE, committee member (Equity, School Effectiveness, Career Day, etc.) and enrichment teacher. She became a teacher because she loves children and loves the light that shines in each of them as they learn more about themselves and grow. As of 2019, Ms. Nelson has been teaching for 12 years. She was the mentor teacher to Chen Yu from Chongqing, China (2019-2020).
