Cynthia Jones

Bio
Cynthia (Cindy) Jones is originally from Clinton, New York. She received her Master of Experimental Psychology (developmental cognitive neurolinguistics) from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She has a degree in art education and is in the process of finishing a Master of Arts Degree in Guidance and Counseling. She is currently a 5th grade teacher at The Discovery School at Reeves Rogers. She has taught for over 33 years at a variety of elementary and middle school levels, and hopes to retire next year to become a mentor to new teachers. Ms. Jones is also head of the Chimerica Program which is a cross-cultural program at Discovery. She is active in her union, and has served in many positions, including president. Ms. Jones is leading the initiative for two organic gardens at Discovery School and is interested in reforming the diet practices of elementary school students. She has received many awards including Rotary Outstanding Educator Award, Apple for the Teacher, Tennessee Junior Achievement Teacher of the Year, Fulbright Master Teacher to Japan and National Teachers Hall of Fame. She has previously traveled abroad in Japan, China, Taiwan, Belgium and Germany. She is married and her hobbies include organic gardening, learning about educational policy and legislation, and Democratic Party activities.

She was the mentor teacher for Cheng Ye in 2011-2012. She was also the mentor teacher for Li Hui during the 2010-2011 academic year.
