Jeff Hayes
Bio
Jeff Hayes is originally from Sparta, Michigan. He earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from Grand Valley State University and his master's in Asian studies from the University of Hawaii. Mr. Hayes has been a Foreign Language Area Studies Fellow at the University of Hawaii and was awarded an East-West Center Affiliate Award during his time in graduate school. He has also had the opportunity to spend three summers in Taiwan. He was selected as a participant in the Intensive Summer Language Institutes for six weeks during the summer of 2009. When not teaching Chinese at Rockford High School and traveling, Mr. Hayes enjoys surfing, reading and riding his motorcycle. He is also interested in classical Chinese (zuo zhuan, shi ji, etc.).
He was the mentor teacher for Fuping Tong from Shanghai, China (2008-2009) and Song Shuyan from Beijing, China (2009-2010).
