Yan Yanping
Bio
Yan Yanping is from Chengdu, China, and holds a master's degree in English. Ms. Yan is a senior teacher at the Chengdu No. 7 Middle School, which is a state-level model school and has been recognized as the best school in the Sichuan Province. She has taught English to secondary school students for 23 years. Ms. Yan is the first English language teacher in the East Education Net School at Chengdu No. 7 Middle School and has developed language teaching skills for use in distance learning. The Net School is open to students in rural areas and uses satellite technology to reach students. It reaches over 50 schools in the south eastern provinces, including Sichuan, Yunnan, Tibet, and Guizhou, among others.
Ms. Yan has previously been to the U.S. as a teacher of Chinese language and culture at the Harvard-Kent School in Boston, MA from 1997-1998. Her awards include the "National Model Teacher of 2004" and the "Model Teacher of Teacher's Ethics in Chengdu." Ms. Yan is a member of the Chengdu Foreign Language Research Society, research fellow of the National Basic Foreign Language Teaching Research Center, and part-time researcher of the Chengdu Science Foundation. She was hosted by Brownsburg East Middle School in Brownsburg, Indiana.
