Critical Language Project Spotlight: TESL Professional Development Workshop
Zheng Meng (2015) was awarded a Critical Language Project grant during the Round 13 application cycle to conduct a TESL Professional Development Workshop for roughly 150 language teachers at her school, Chongqing Foreign Languages School.

Her goals for the workshop include sharing authentic American culture and offering sessions on student-centered activities, developing SMART goals and project-based learning strategies. Her overall goal for hosting the workshop is to better equip teachers in her school with the strategies to make learning English interesting and engaging for students in order to enhance their understanding of English and the cultures of English speaking countries.

Zheng Meng has collaborated on this project with two other TCLP alumnae Jia Lili (2015) and Xia Zhi (2015) and has invited two English Language Fellows from the Regional English Language Office of the United States Embassy in China to offer sessions during the workshop as well. The workshop will take place this fall.

As alumni, you are eligible to apply for a Critical Language Project (CLP) grant. You can read more about Critical Language Projects, as well as find information about how to apply on the TCLP website under Alumni Resources, “Critical Language Projects”.
