Kong Yanli

Bio
Kong Yanli is originally from Yichang, China. She received a bachelor’s degree in English language and education from Central China Normal University. Prior to her current teaching position, she taught English for 12 years at Dongguan Middle School, where she was recognized with an award for her excellence as a teacher, she was the leader of tenth grade teachers and has also taken students on a month-long exchange program to New Zealand. She took part in the transferring program for experienced teachers to move to her current school, Yichang Foreign Language Junior High School. Kong enjoys traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, and practicing Tai Chi. She has one child. During her year in the United States, Ms. Yanli looked forward to improving her spoken English, celebrating American holidays, and sharing her cultural holidays with her students. She also hoped to attend an American wedding and travel around the country. Ms. Kong’s goals for participating in TCLP were to learn and employ American teaching methodologies and to build a connection between her home and host schools. She was hosted by LaSalle Language Academy in Chicago, IL.
