Xu Qiang

Bio
Mr. Xu is from Mianyang, China and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Sichuan Teachers College. He also has a postgraduate certification in Curriculum and Teaching Methods from Southwest Normal University. Since 2000, Xu Qiang has worked as an English teacher and class advisor in the Nanshan Middle School and High School. In 2008, he led an English lesson group and became the director in charge of student discipline. He has participated in many English teaching and classroom management programs and now helps train English teachers and class advisors. He has a variety of hobbies including biking, photography, cooking, broadcasting, computer studies, and singing Chinese folk songs. As a Teachers of Critical Languages Program participant he intends to encourage more American students learn Chinese language and culture, while he learns about teaching philosophies in the U.S. Mr. Xu was hosted by Arlington High School (1,201 students and 103 teachers) in Arlington, Massachusetts (pop. 42,389).
