Together with our American Councils colleagues, we from the Department of State enjoyed the opportunity to see the TCLP teachers and their mentor teachers at the fall workshop last month in Philadelphia. We hope that the sessions and cultural activities were useful and fun for everyone in attendance. As we mentioned at the time, we encourage you to let American Councils know if you have questions or if we can better support you during the program. At the same time, we extend warm greetings to our program alumni of the past seven years including the most recent group of program alumni who are beginning their first new school year since returning from their TCLP experience. We encourage the alumni to stay involved in the program by sharing your experiences in the U.S. with your students, colleagues, and home communities in China and Egypt, by continuing collaboration with your U.S. host schools, by serving on selection panels and at pre-departure orientations, by getting involved in alumni activities, including applying for Critical Language Projects, and by attending other program-related events. These activities represent unique opportunities to network and share resources with each other. As always, we ask that you (current TCLP teachers, U.S. host schools and alumni) please share stories and photos with us about your successes both inside and outside the classroom—we’re very proud of our current teachers and our program alumni! We hope that you enjoy this latest issue of the TCLP Alumni Newsletter.
