This is the very beginning of the school year so the main task of the first month is to review what they learnt last year. When I have had an overview of what students still remember and can give reactions to, I can add in something new bit by bit. Also training students to follow classroom directions when they hear them in Chinese is essential because eventually I will be using most Chinese and little English to help if necessary. The objectives with math, as is stated in the Grade 1 trimester map, students will be able to count to 120, starting from any number less than 120.

This is a lesson combining Language learning and Chinese culture together for a 2 hours lesson during the FSA season. The kids will be able to ask and tell time and also need to present it by Chinese traditional sundial. They need to make it, decorate it and present it. Even if it is a 2-hr class, the kids are engaged until the last minute.

After two classes, students are able to say what day of the week it is/was tomorrow/today and yesterday in Chinese. Vocab:昨天,今天,明天,星期一,星期二,星期三,星期四,星期五,星期六,星期天 Sentence: 昨天星期一,今天星期五,明天星期六, etc.

This is a lesson after the one we learned days, and I taught kids how to say " I eat apples on Monday." " I eat bananas on Tuesday."... some phrase like these, cause we already know how to say the seven days in a week, and they also know how several Chinese words of friut. so all the activities in the class are focus to make the link between these two parts and have them practice.
